Wanted to attend a meeting for remembering Vidyasagar Mahajan.
A friend came at home and by the time he left, the time for the meeting was gone. So, decided not to go there. Better not to go half way in these kind of meetings.
Vidyasagar was our Spanish teacher. He was originally a German teacher. As I remember, because there were more batches for Spanish that time, he started teaching Spanish also.
I could manage to reach the class somehow after all my days work -mostly in Bhosari/Bombay-Pune road – and attend the classes. Except some 2-3 seniors like me, all other were college students and they picked up the language very well.
Sir did everything he could do for us so that we (non-collegiates / working people) could understand the language and do at least some conversation. Sadly, we never picked up well.
Nothing happened to my Spanish later on. But because of the Spanish class, I could meet a really great person like Vidyasagar Mahajan Sir.
Whenver we met at Roopali or some other places, we talked about the current Spanish batch and our old batchmates. And he used to tell about his new activities in translations, translated plays etc.
And now suddenly he is no more.
Well, I could motivate some 4-5 other people to join Spanish classes. And I am happy about it. Spanish is really nice language. Do learn it. Now there are many resources available on internet also.
I don’t think I will forget Vidyasagar Mahajan.
